And before we knew it, your first birthday has arrived. Happy birthday to our youngest son, Q! I can’t believe a whole year has passed in, what seems like, the blink of an eye. It doesn’t seem like yesterday I was writing your birth story, your first update or any of the others.
After we had dropped O off at school, your Dad and I took you to visit the World of Beatrix Potter at Bowness-on-Windermere on your birthday. We did this on O’s first birthday too and we have a photograph of us with O taken there, which we wanted to replicate for your first birthday too. I can’t wait to get them both up in a frame – my two boys on their first birthdays, side by side. The sun was shining and it was quite warm for the time of year, so we made the most of the weather and walked around Bowness and down to the lake to see the ducks.
We gifted you a ride-on car, a Playmobil 123 set and some board books which you love. You also received a ball pool, a Mega Blocks table, another Playmobil set, lots of new clothes and pyjamas and a little money for your savings. You’re a very lucky boy that is so loved by everyone! O loved writing your birthday card out and being privy to the knowledge of what presents you were getting before we wrapped them up. He didn’t ever let it slip or spoil the secret though – he’s an awesome big brother.
Not only have you reached your very first birthday, but this last month has welcomed (reluctantly!) a number of other firsts too. We bought you your first pair of shoes – some Hush Puppies pre-walker shoes in a blue leather with a velcro strap. You weren’t sure at first but you’re happy enough to wear them now.
You’ve been a bit poorly lately, and have just finished off your first set of antibiotics this week. You had a bit of a virus at first, which ended up being an infection in both of your ears – but you’re thankfully on the mend! The ladies at nursery have been keeping their best eye on you and prompted our visit to the doctors, which was obviously warranted! They know you almost as well as we do and care about you so much, it’s really lovely.
I’m incredibly proud that we’ve reached 12 months of breastfeeding, providing you with nourishment and comfort when you need it most. Although you do still wake a couple of times at night, I don’t mind as I know it won’t last much longer. I love our cuddles!
And here’s to you second year. Still full of firsts, but surely full of fun, giggles and love. Love you lots like jelly tots, love from Mummy xxx
…and something special for your first birthday update –
a little look at your first year in 12 photographs…
