Liebster Award

I have been nominated by the lovely Lisa at Mumma Scribbles (thank you!) for a Liebster award this week.  In case you don’t know, this award is all about discovering new blogs and helping fellow (relatively unknown) bloggers with their readership.  As a fairly new (and now consistent) blogger, I know how much work it takes to get your blog out there and so I accept this award so I can help others.

Here are the general rules for the Liebster award:

  • Acknowledge and thank the blog who nominated you
  • Look for an award image that you like, and post it on your blog
  • Answer the 11 questions asked by the person/blog who nominated you
  • List 11 random facts about yourself
  • Nominate 11 blogs with under 200 followers to receive the award
  • Let the bloggers know that you nominated them
  • Give them 11 questions to answer

Liebster Award

So here’s the 11 questions and my answers…

Who would play you in a movie and why?

I would have Jennifer Aniston play me…  Although she would need to put a bit of weight on and perm her hair!  I have chosen Jennifer Aniston because I think she would do justice to my personality, and we share the same nose (pre-surgery!).

What is your favourite season and why?

I love summer.  I think there’s so much more you can do when the weather is nice!  I love the sunshine as it makes me feel instantly happier and lasts throughout the day.  I love to play out in the garden with O in the sunshine, or take a day trip out to one of the many beautiful places nearby our house.

Apart from your children, what is your biggest achievement so far in life?

I am so proud of many moments in my life – I’m finding it difficult to choose just one!  I am proud of my career, achieving my qualifications at a college 100 miles away during pregnancy, marrying my husband, buying our home together.

Why did you decide to start blogging?

I started blogging to have a little space just for me, that I could use to log O’s development and my thoughts.  I found it quite difficult at first to get into the swing of blogging regularly, but I find it much easier now as I don’t struggle for the post inspiration anymore.  I try not to think about what people would want to read about, but focus on why I started the blog in the first place and write about what I want to write about.  If people want to read, then that’s a bonus!

If you were stranded on a desert island, what three things would you take with you?

My mobile phone, my camera and a plane ticket.  My mobile phone to ring someone to arrange a boat to pick me up and take me to an airport, my camera to take some beautiful photos whilst I wait for them to arrive, and my plane ticket to get home to my boy!

What is your favourite ice cream flavour?

I’m not a huge fan of ice cream to be honest, but if I had to choose I would say Lemon.  Sharp to the taste but refreshing and light.  I can remember being about 12 or 13 years old on holiday abroad and being treated to an ice cream from a little parlour by my parents whilst we were walking around a lovely town…  Probably to shut me and my brother up whining!

If you could do any job in the world, what would it be?

I’d be a singer/actress in the West End musicals.  Then, when I’m older, I would teach singing in schools and private tuition.  I love to sing, act and dance and to make my living doing something I love so much would be awesome.  But I’m not really good enough to make it so never tried!

What is your guilty pleasure?

I love Big Brother.  I know, I know, most people think its ran its’ course a million times over.  But I just love to watch how a collective of different characters live together with no contact from the outside world.

Who is your favourite blogger and why?

I have so many favourite bloggers!  I do love Donna’s blog over at What the Redhead Said, as she blogs about such a variety of topics.  I really enjoy reading her posts about her children’s development and the activities they get up to as a family.  I also really enjoy reading Suzy Marie’s blog at Eeep! I’m a Blogger who writes such articulate posts about all things feminism and lifestyle.

What is your speciality dish?

When I met my husband, A, I made him my version of Chilli Con Carne.  It is that dish that kept him coming back for more!  Chilli, served with rice, grated cheese, soured cream and nachos…  Absolutely awesome, although not light on the calories!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?

I’m not really sure.  I’d like to think that my blog has developed into something great, that I don’t work quite so many hours in my day job and can enjoy life with my family a little more.  In 5 years time, O will be 8 years old and I can’t quite imagine this at the moment!  I hope that I can raise him to be a well-rounded young man and that he is happy in his life.
