Following on from my Britmums Live 2015 Introductory meme, one of my lovely readers asked if I could cover why I’m attending Britmums Live 2015 as my first blogging conference. Of course, I’m happy to talk about any topics that you guys would like to read about so here goes…!
I’ve been blogging on and off for a while, but more consistently since August 2014 and have been pounding my efforts into this blog and starting to feel like I’m getting somewhere! I decided in January to jump ship from a Blogger domain to a self-hosted site, and from there my blogging aims of 2015 where starting to become achievable.
I was talking to a couple of bloggy friends about attending a blogging conference, both of whom also have Britmums Live 2015 tickets, trying to establish whether it is really worth it. I live in a rural part of North West England, and so getting to London is no mean feat, not to mention rather expensive…
One of the main reasons I’m going to Britmums is that I would love to meet a whole load of other bloggers! I have met a couple, who have also been very close friends of mine for nearly 4 years, but never had the opportunity to meet anyone else. My family and friends think I’m weird talking to strangers through apps on my phone, and to meet them – well, that would just be insane! But I don’t think it is. Obviously, I’m careful with who I choose to interact with and even more so with whom I share very personal information. A stranger is a friend that you just haven’t met yet, and so I think Britmums could be a great opportunity for me to build my online relationships into real friendships.
I’m also looking to learn as much as I possibly can about the many and varied aspects of managing a successful blog. I have picked up a bit whilst plodding away and have relied on other bloggers via Twitter and Facebook to help me when I’ve been really stuck with something, but I know that there is so much more to learn! I’m not too sure which sessions I’ll be attending yet, though I guess it’s something I’ll look into in more detail in the days running up to the event.
There’s just so much about Britmums Live to look forward to – the Keynote speakers, interacting with brands, the Brilliance in Blogging Awards ceremony, the list could go on! I’m really excited about the whole experience, and I’m hoping I won’t be as shy as I usually am with new people… a glass of wine might sort that out though! I’ll definitely be writing a post on My First… blogging conference after the event.
