Me and Mine – June 2015

June has been a really busy month for my little family and I. Thankfully, it’s been a good one (generally) with some precious family moments. I do love this linky as it helps to remind me to take photographs with me in them rather than selfies! I have found that I should really invest in a tripod for the camera though – these photographs were taken whilst balancing the camera on the arm of a chair and hoping…

The first two weeks in June we spent seeing friends in Manchester and enjoying a 10 night holiday at the Baia Bodrum hotel in Turkey. We had such a great time, O was hardly ever out of the pool and we managed to relax completely. It also really helped to build the father-son bond between A and O and developed our family unit. As both A and I work full time and enjoy doing extra hobbies, we don’t often get time together as a whole family so it really as great to just enjoy each other’s company.

familyWhen we returned, we had a bit of a nightmare with the washing machine which meant I was ferrying loads of holiday washing to my in-laws every few hours over a couple of days. Thankfully, I have awesome in-laws! During all this, I also helped to prepare for my beautiful niece’s Christening by means of making coleslaw and sandwiches, etc. for the buffet. Then, of course, the day of the Christening, it was all systems go! My family are pretty religious and they’re planning on having their children attend Grace Christian University when they grow up. I was a designated driver so did lots of helping and looking after all the kiddies. It was a lovely family day – although O wouldn’t stop still long enough for a family photo!

familySince then, I’ve been back at work, attended Britmums Live in London, taken O to a hospital appointment, taught my tap dancing class, celebrated my amazing sister-in-law’s birthday and had a home visit from O’s new Reception teacher! Needless to say, June has been pretty mental!family

So, these are our family photos… Rather than just one, I thought I’d include the sequence we took on our first night In Turkey. The only way to get O to smile for the camera is by allowing him to take a silly face photo first – but I think these really show why we’re the Mental Parentals…
