Autumn seems to have fast arrived, and with it a whole load of sickness, viral fevers and common colds made worse with the start of School… So when I was asked to review the Braun ThermoScan 7 Ear Thermometer, I thought it would come in useful a lot during these cold Autumn and Winter months.
O has been feeling a bit under the weather lately. Although it’s sad to see them not feeling themselves, it’s about the only time I ever get any daytime cuddles! Last weekend, he hadn’t been sleeping well and had woken in a clammy state and so it was a good opportunity to get the Braun ThermoScan 7 Ear Thermometer out and put it to the test.
The Braun ThermoScan 7 Ear Thermometer comes with a storage case, packet of spare lens filters, quick start guide, full instruction booklet and batteries already inserted. The stand-out features for me include the Night Light and the Age Precision technology; but it really is brimming with other excellent features.
The Braun ThermoScan 7 Ear Thermometer is suitable for any age. I didn’t realise that the temperature of a fever is different depending on the age of the child, and the Braun ThermoScan 7 Ear Thermometer allows you to select the age of the child prior to taking a temperature reading. Of course, O is 4 years old so fits into the highest age range available using the Thermometer. I can only imagine how useful this will become when baby bump arrives in March and I’ll have two very different age ranges to consider.
For the purposes of this review, I have taken pictures demonstrating how the thermometer would be used – when O was actually feeling a bit poorly, I thought I’d be a bit of a mean Mummy to make him wait whilst I took photographs! The Thermometer is really easy to switch on, select the correct age range and take the temperature. O didn’t mind so much when I used the Braun ThermoScan 7 Ear Thermometer – it didn’t take long to register a reading either, which is good. With a smaller child, it may be difficult for them to stay still!
As the Mummy of a 4-year-old, I’m really quite impressed with the product on a whole. I can imagine it would be a bit more difficult to use a thermometer like this with a newborn, rather than an ‘under-the-arm’ thermometer, but the reading here would be a bit more accurate. I suppose I won’t know until baby is born!
The Braun ThermoScan 7 Ear Thermometer is available at Boots for a cost of £49.99 at the time of writing this review.
