This month has been a busy one! August has brought us a 5 year old and a 5 month old… We’ve not stopped! Of course, August is the one month of the year that is spent entirely without school. Although, school does start back next week and O is ready for it. It’s so lovely to have him home for the summer though – we’ve had some really fun and relaxing days too.
One day out that can’t go without mention is our day trip to the Lost Castle at Lowther Castle, near Penrith. We had such a wonderful day there and the sun shone all day. It was really nice and I think I must have said how much I’d enjoyed the day together about ten times on the car journey home!
We’ve also had a pretty important day in celebrating O’s 5th birthday. How am I now a mummy to a 5 year old boy!? That’s like a proper grown-up child. Not a baby, toddler or preschooler anymore. Time goes far too fast! On his birthday, we spent the morning opening presents and singing happy birthday and eating birthday cake. In the afternoon, we went bowling with O’s cousins and Uncle and the kids all had a great time. It was lovely to see O so happy and enjoying his special day.
He also had a party at the local sports centre with his friends where we’d organised for his football coach to play a variety of ball games and exercises with them. O said it was the best party ever. That’s what made all the hassle worth it! And to show why my blog is called “Mental Parentals”, we took these crazy fun-filled picture…
