Like most five year old children, O loves to go out and jump around in puddles. In epic Peppa pig style, he loves not much more than to pull on his welly boots and displace water from potholes. So when Dry Kids got in touch asking us to review their waterproof childrens clothing sets, I jumped at the chance – think of all the mud stains I could prevent!
The waterproof jacket and trouser set are great to wear over clothes and the sizing is generous. O is a tall 5 year old and is generally now in age 6-7 sized clothes, but the size 5-6 years fits just right. I love that there are a range of colours available and red is such a lovely unisex colour. It’s so bright too – it stands out against a dark rain cloud! The fabric is quite soft and feels nice to wear – O has worn the set over t-shirt and shorts some days and says it isn’t scratchy but soft on his skin.
Look at the joy on his face! The Dry Kids Waterproof jacket has elasticated cuffs to prevent water getting inside, and the trousers have an elasticated waistband and poppers on the ankles. We found that tucking the trousers into wellies isn’t a way to keep dry during puddle-jumping adventures… O’s socks were a little bit soggy!
The jacket and trouser set coped well with the rain and O stayed perfectly dry. Our trusty British summertime gave us plenty of puddles but it didn’t prevent O’s fun. The hood is adjustable around the face and fastens with velcro across the chin. It does hide O’s mouth so I asked him to unfasten is so that I could capture his smiles and hear him speak. The hood tucks away around the neck so it doesn’t need to be flapping around during a dry spell.
Whilst out on our wet weather walk, we spotted a handful of these little baby toads! How cute?! This one stopped and eyed us up and down for a while before jumping into a drain… Poor thing! O gave him the name Stuart and then proceeded to jump around like a frog… He’s a daft lad.
In my opinion, this jacket and trouser set of waterproof childrens clothing by Dry Kids is really worth the investment. The sizing is generous so should last a good while and the quality of the product is great. Personally, I think the trousers work better worn outside the wellies but the soggy socks isn’t the fault of the product!
