Most babies start to cut teeth when they’re around 5 or 6 months old… but not Q… We have experienced a few unsettled nights but nothing really major. This last couple of weeks, he’s been really in amongst his teeth – he runs his tongue around his gums and is up every couple of hours after midnight. So, when we were asked to review the Matchstick Monkey teething toy and teething gel applicator, it couldn’t have been timed better!
Designed by ‘mumpreneur’ Katie when her daughter Coco was born in 2015, Matchstick Monkey is an ideal solution to a real problem, preventing those tiny teeth from nipping your fingers when applying teething gel to painful molars. Available in bright, bold colours that little people will adore, Matchstick Monkey is an amazing teething toy and teething gel applicator, crafted from soft, non-toxic silicone.
The Matchstick Monkey is packaged in a plastic tube that tells you all you need to know about the product. It has easy to grasp arms as handles, with bumps that will gently massage sore gums. Each toy is made from high quality, eco-friendly materials and is dishwasher safe and freezer friendly – perfect to soothe those sore, inflamed gums.
Q is really enjoying giving his Matchstick Monkey a good ol’ chew! He’s managing to hold it’s arms with no problem and seems to like the feel of the bumps on the back of the monkey’s head. And by complete coincidence, he cut his first tooth yesterday! Would you believe it?! It only took 9 months… but we’re leaving the land of gummy smiles.
What are your tips to get through the long nights and teething phases?

That teething toy looks so cute! My first didn’t get a tooth until she was 10 months old, she was teething till she was 3! Baby is proving to be a bit quicker about it thankfully. My main teething tip is to give them cucumber at every opportunity!!
This looks like a good product, it’s so necessary to have something for teething to sooth them. I like the fact that it’s a gel applicator as well. We used the giraffe thing when mine were little.

What lovely photos! My daughter is cutting her first two teeth at almost 9 months old! She’s been teething for what feels like months too!
That looks quite good! My two are a bit older now so passed that stage but we used Ambesol on the gums and that worked a treat. I’ve heard that Calpol on the gums works well too.
This looks fantastic, Darcey is still struggling an could definitely do with one of these at the moment.
I got given one of these as a freebie at The Baby Show last year. My 8mo daughter absolutely loves it and she smiles whenever she sees it. It has saved my finger from being chomped on a fair few times. We use it a lot at the moment as we’ve had her first 4 teeth come through in the last month!!!!
